304   VACATIONS

304.01A Vacation Year shall be defined as the period from January 1st to December 31st.
304.02Vacation Time Entitlement for Regular Employees shall be calculated on the following basis:
    a)  after the first (1st) to fifth (5th) year of service an Employee earns fifteen (15) working days;

    b)  during the sixth (6th) to fifteenth (15th) year of service an Employee earns twenty (20) working days;

    c)  during the sixteenth (16th) year of service and for every year of service thereafter, an Employee earns twenty-five (25) working days.
304.03Vacation Pay shall be calculated on the following basis:
    a)  six percent (6%) after the first to fifth (5th) year of service;

    b)  eight percent (8%) during the sixth (6th) to the fifteenth (15th) year of service;

    c)  ten percent (10%) during the sixteenth (16th) year and every year thereafter.

For anyone working less than regular full-time hours, vacation entitlement will be prorated according to hours defined by terms of employment.
304.04Employees shall be entitled, upon written request, to save and carry forward to a vacation period in the following year only, five (5) working days of vacation. Such deferred vacation shall only be paid at the Employee's prevailing salary when taken. Such deferred vacation shall only be taken with the written approval of the Vice-President/Director, with regard to the needs of the department.
304.05General Holidays occurring during a vacation period shall be given in addition to the vacation. Entitled days off occurring during a vacation period shall be given in addition to the vacation.
304.06During the first calendar year of service, upon request, Employees may be granted leave of absence without pay proportionate to their length of service. Such request will not be unreasonably withheld.
304.07An Employee with less than fifteen (15) working days vacation may request sufficient leave of absence without pay to allow up to fifteen (15) working days vacation. Such request will not be unreasonably withheld.
